For those watching Heroes (X-men references)

First off, I am immensely enjoying the show and have really been hooked into it (which I kind of hate as I despise really serialized shows, but I hate my self for enjoying it so much).

Now seeing all the characters and how they are panning out. Does anyone notice how they are really tracking the X-Men?

You have:

Precog Painter = Destiny
Cheerleader = Wolverine/X-23
Senator = Cannonball
Senator's brother = Rouge
Silent man = Prof X
Horn Rimmed man = Stryker
Cop = Prof X (reduced)
Sylar = Dark Phoenix
Hiro = NightCrawler (teleportation)
Micah's Father = Shadowcat
Stripper = Phoenix/Dark Phoenix

About the only thing I can't truely place is the time control of Hiro.

This was brought up before but if you think about it...there are only so many superpowers to go around after Marvel and DC have pretty much exploited them all since the golden age of comics.

Regarding Hiro: I'm thinking he doesn't really teleport so much as move back and forth through time. When he teleported to New York in the first show it was 5 weeks ahead of when he was in Japan. So basically he traveled to NY in some conventional way in real time but fast forward over it with his talent. True teleportation would be instantaneous.

I'm still trying to decide if Claire (the cheerleader) is cute or gnomish. She's one of those cute child actors that didn't quite translate to adulthood.

Yea, Claire is still a teenager - actually playing a teenager! Imagine that.

My thoughts on last night's episode - it's long:

- confirmation on my call that Nikki killed the bad guys and framed DL, and the idea that many of us shared that pixie chick was working with Claire's dad. That leads further credence to my thoughts that it was the group that her and he belong to that actually cleaned out Sylar's place. It's also interesting that since that happened, we haven't heard a peep out of Sylar.

- Claire's dad's expression could be taken two ways (the beauty of a well written show). He was clearly worried, but was he a) worried that his nefarious plot around his own daughter would be interfered with or b) worried about the safety of his own daughter. I'm going with b). Again, I'm calling that he'll die attempting to protect his daughter.

- the parents were fake, but what kind of fake? Were they the real parents, working with the dad and just not telling her anything, or were they plants entirely? Odds are they were plants entirely, since the mom said they couldn't find them before. And what was up with Claire having a 'cough' and there being worries about genetics? Cystic Fibrosis concerns? Obviously not the case, but what could a cough have to do with her powers? Does she have some form of 'krptonite'?

- DL actually mentions Uluru, acting like he's him with Micah, and the cover of the 9th Wonders this time is new, this time of an evil looking woman with the whole flames background again. More foreshadowing?

- Nikki isn't dead. But that's one mighty handy power of DL's.

- Hiro seems the most together of all of them, the most sure of himself, the most capable of going on when things get tough. This is largely due to Ando, and it's a nice example of them needing someone else to depend on and talk to, to get them through the rough patches.

- while it was clear that it was Nikki killing the guys outside the bathroom, it was still a great sequence.

- we got three huge answers in this episode: our intro to DL, lots of info on Nikki including that she was responsible for the killing and frame up, and that pixie chick is in the 'society'.

- I'm also sticking with the theory that it's the Deveaux Society they're involved with, and that they operate like the Talamasca or the Watchers in Highlander. They are recording, watching, and cleaning up after the superheroes, but staying at arm's length to avoid interfering. If Daddy Deveaux had powers, it makes sense that he'd set up such a group with his wealth.

- I'll be interested to see what the missing painting shows. I don't think it will be one we've seen up to this point.

- Alter Ego Nikki is extremely self absorbed. She's looking out for Micah only as it relates to her own self interest. And while it's very, very clear that normal Nikki loved (and still loves) DL very much, alter-Nikki had no trouble throwing him under the bus to originally get the two million and get him out of their lives. I think Nikki is headed for the evil side, and that won't be the last time we see Nikki and DL throw.

- I think they were making it possible again with dialog last night that pixie chick has some powers. Of course, if she's part of the "society", working with them like the MBG, you'd assume she does, but we haven't seen any sure signs yet. Still, last night when she told Claire's dad about Mohindar leaving, he said she should have stopped him. She replied "I tried", and he said something to the effect of "but you could have tried harder". That, with the idea that she's going to be able to bring in Isaac by herself, implies that there's more than what meets the eye.

- And what was up with that second set of broken glasses that Claire's dad had while discussing Mohindar's dad on the phone?

And whilst I'm stuck on Claire (don't ask me why) what's the deal with her taking that baking pan out of the oven without potholders? Is she an airhead when it comes to common sense or is she really purposefully using (or abusing) her powers? I guessing airhead because for someone who is suppose to be hiding her powers from her parents she seems pretty obvious about it. Maybe she got these powers because she such a klutz?

Why get pot holders? Her mother isn't watching, so what's the point? I think it was a nice way of showing us she's just getting accostumed to the whole thing.

It still takes a while for her hands to heal. Pretty careless if you ask me (and you didn't).

I still say she's a klutz and that if it wasn't for her superpowers she would have died at 2 years old when she pulled that hairdryer into the bathtub. [img]wink.gif[/img]
